The right coworking space is the one your team will actually use. In Hyderabad that comes down to commute first, then internet and noise, then contract terms. Price matters, but a cheap desk an hour away in traffic is not a saving.
1. Start with the commute
Hyderabad traffic makes location decisive. Map where your team lives and look for spaces within about 30 minutes for most people, ideally near a metro station on the Red Line (Miyapur–LB Nagar) or Blue Line (Raidurg–Nagole). For a team spread across the city, central areas such as Ameerpet, Begumpet and Punjagutta are often fairer than HITEC City. Browse coworking spaces by area.
2. Test the internet on a weekday afternoon
Take a day pass and run a speed test at 3pm, when the space is busiest. Ask whether there is a backup line from a different provider and whether power backup covers the whole floor, not just the lights.
3. Listen for noise
Open floors vary hugely. If you take a lot of calls, check how many phone booths there are per member, whether they are usually free, and whether a small private cabin costs much more than a dedicated desk.
4. Count the meeting rooms
Ask how many hours a month your plan includes, how far ahead members book, and what extra hours cost. A space with too few rooms will cost you either money or awkward client meetings.
5. Check access and parking
Some spaces close at 8pm and on Sundays; others are open 24/7. If you work late or with US clients, confirm night access, air conditioning after hours, and security. Ask about two-wheeler and car parking charges.
6. Read the contract before you love the space
- Lock-in period: how many months you must pay for even if you leave.
- Notice period: usually 1–3 months after the lock-in.
- Deposit and refund time: get the refund timeline in writing.
- Escalation: yearly increases should be capped, typically at 5–7%.
- What is excluded: GST, parking, printing, extra meeting hours.
7. Talk to members
Reception will tell you the space is great. Members in the pantry will tell you what it is like at 6pm on a Friday.
8. Compare at least three
Prices for the same seat vary a lot between centres a few hundred metres apart. Use our tour checklist to score each space, and get written quotes from 3 to compare like for like.
